Artefill is the only filler to be the FDA considers "permanent".  It is comprised of microspheres of poly-methylmethacrylate suspended in a bovine collagen base.  Results will be seen immediately from the bovine collagen.  As the collagen is reabsorbed over the next few months, the microspheres are left in place, deep in the tissue.  Tissue reaction around these inert spheres causes more collagen to be produced around them and creates further volume which is permanent.  Because this product is considered permanent, it is recommended that complete correction/fill be achieved over several sessions, so as not to over compensate.

This is a great product for patients who have tried temporary fillers and want something permanent to fill their smile lines, rebuild their chin or cheeks or correct acne scars.

The procedure is done in the office after topical anesthetic is applied.  Any bruising or swelling at the treatment sites should resolve in a few days.
